City of Cannon Falls sign in front of City Hall

The City Hall building is the office location for the City Administrator, Economic Development and Finance Departments. The Police Department is located at the front of the City Hall Building. 

The City Administrator is responsible to the City Council for administration of city affairs. The City Administrator has power and responsibility to perform all duties specified in the City Charter and city code, prepare a proposed annual budget and administer it after Council approval and coordinate activities of all city departments and personnel. Specific duties are outlined in the City Code Chapter 31.  

There is only one Cannon Falls: no other city in the United States has this name. But more importantly, Cannon Falls is strategically located between the thriving Twin Cities metropolitan area and Rochester, Minnesota, home to the world-renowned Mayo Clinic.

The City of Cannon Falls Finance department oversees all aspects of the City's finances including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, utility billing and Human Resources.

The Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for administering the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances, as well as all permitting, licensing and addressing in the City of Cannon Falls. The Planning Commission is appointed by the City Council and makes recommendations on zoning items.
